Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the charge air cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LF4 Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LF4 GE 47716)

    Windshield Wiper Arm- Left Side and Right Side (3) - Remove [2x]

  3. Using the appropriate trim tool, remove the 2 left side and right side windshield wiper arm finish caps (1) from the windshield wiper arm (3).
  4. Windshield Wiper Arm Nut- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]
  5. Grasp the outer end of the windshield wiper arm (3) and gently rock the arm back and forth to remove it from the windshield wiper transmission pivot shaft.

    Air Inlet Grille Panel Extension- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]

  7. Remove the 2 left side and right side air inlet grille panel extension (1) from the air inlet grille panel and upper front fender.
  8. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, carefully release the left side and right side air inlet grille panel extension clips.
  9. Apply two layers of masking tape around the top edge of the left side and right side service part to prevent paint damage.

    Front Compartment Side Sight Shield Retainer- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [6x]

  11. Front Compartment Side Sight Shield- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]

    Remove the 4 hood rear outer air inlet seal retainer (1) from the left and right side.

  13. Remove the 2 hood rear outer air inlet seal (2) from the left and right side.

    Air Inlet Grille Panel Retainer- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [4x]

  15. Air Inlet Grille Panel Extension- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]

    Air Inlet Grille Panel Retainer (1) - Remove [6x]

  17. Air Inlet Grille Panel (2) - Remove
  18. Disconnect the windshield washer nozzle hose from the windshield washer pump hose.
  19. Lift the front edge of the air inlet grille panel (2) and slide the panel forward from both hood hinges to remove.

    Windshield Wiper System Module Shield (1) - Remove

    21. NOTE:

    To prevent erroneous DTC's, disconnect the battery negative cable before disconnecting the windshield wiper motor electrical connector.

    Disconnect the windshield wiper motor electrical connector.

  23. Windshield Wiper System Module Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
  24. Slide the windshield wiper system module (2) inboard to release the grommet from the plenum and remove the windshield wiper system module (2) from the vehicle.

    Plenum Front Panel Nut (1) - Remove [3x]

  29. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  30. Pull the forward lamp wiring harness (3) out from the plenum front panel.

    Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace Bolt- Right Side (1) - Remove [3x]

  38. Front Suspension Strut Upper Mounting Nut- Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]
  39. Release the engine wire harness retainers from the front end sheet metal cross brace.

    Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace Nut- Right Side (1) - Remove

    Intake Manifold Cover Bolt (1) - Remove

  46. Intake Manifold Cover (2) - Remove
  47. Install the oil filler cap after removal of the intake manifold cover to prevent debris from falling into the engine.

    Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube (1) - Disconnect [2x] - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

  49. Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube (1) - Remove

    Disconnect the turbocharger wastegate regulator solenoid valve electrical connector.

  51. Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Vacuum Tank Bolt (3) - Remove [2x]

    Disconnect the turbocharger wastegate regulator solenoid valve electrical connector.

    Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube Connector (1) - Disconnect [2x] - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

    CAUTION:

    The Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) line is tamper resistant and must always be replaced once it is removed. The fittings connected to the PCV line must also be replaced if they are damaged when the PCV line is removed. To reduce the risk of damage to the fittings, use a suitable cutting tool and carefully cut the connections away.

    Using a suitable cutting tool, carefully cut the 2 positive crankcase ventilation tube connectors (1).

    Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Clip (3) @ Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Pipe Bracket - Unclip

    EN-46101  Spark Plug Tube Seal Guides (1) - Install [3x]

  123. Clean the mating surface of the cylinder head and the camshaft cover.
