Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the charge air cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LF4 Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LF4 GE 47716)
  2. Oil Filler Cap - Remove

    Intake Manifold Cover Bolt (1) - Remove

  4. Intake Manifold Cover (2) - Remove
  5. Install the oil filler cap after removal of the intake manifold cover to prevent debris from falling into the engine.

    Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube (1) - Disconnect [2x] - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

  7. Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube (1) - Remove

    Disconnect the turbocharger wastegate regulator solenoid valve electrical connector.

  9. Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Vacuum Tank Bolt (3) - Remove [2x]

    Disconnect the turbocharger wastegate regulator solenoid valve electrical connector.

    Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Vacuum Tank Solenoid Valve Tube (3) @ Auxiliary Air Cleaner Outlet Duct - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

    Charge Air Bypass Valve Vacuum Tank Tube (3) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

    Supercharger Water Manifold (1) - Remove

  27. Supercharger Water Manifold Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]
  28. Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pipe Seal (3) - Remove and DISCARD [4x]

    Charge Air Bypass Valve Hose Clamp (1) - Loosen

  30. Charge Air Bypass Valve Tube Connector Clamp (2) - Loosen
  31. Charge Air Bypass Valve (3) - Remove

    Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Tube Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  33. Charge Air Bypass Valve Tube Connector Clamp (2) - Loosen
  34. Charge Air Cooler Inlet Pipe (3) - Remove
  35. Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Tube Seal (4) - Remove and DISCARD

  37. Charge Air Bypass Valve Tube Connector Clamp (2) - Loosen
  38. Charge Air Bypass Valve (3) - Remove

    Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Tube Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  40. Charge Air Bypass Valve Tube Connector Clamp (2) - Loosen
  41. Charge Air Cooler Inlet Pipe (3) - Remove
  42. Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Tube Seal (4) - Remove and DISCARD

    Disconnect the electrical connector.

  44. Charge Air Cooler Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
  45. Charge Air Cooler Cover Bolt (2) - Remove [12x]

    Charge Air Cooler Cover (1) - Remove

  47. Intake Manifold Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD
  48. Charge Air Cooler Cover Seal (3) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]

    Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube Connector (1) - Disconnect [2x] - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

  50. Positive Crankcase Ventilation Foul Air Tube (2) - Remove

    Engine Rear Noise Shield Bolt (1) - Remove

    Engine Rear Noise Shield Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  53. Retainer (2) - Unclip [3x]
  54. Wiring Harness (3) - Reposition

    Fuel Pipe Shield (1) - Remove

    Disconnect all electrical connectors.

  57. Lower Intake Manifold Bolt (1) - Remove [6x]

    Intake Manifold (1) - Remove

  59. Lower Intake Manifold Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD [6x]

    CAUTION:

    The Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) line is tamper resistant and must always be replaced once it is removed. The fittings connected to the PCV line must also be replaced if they are damaged when the PCV line is removed. To reduce the risk of damage to the fittings, use a suitable cutting tool and carefully cut the connections away.

    Using a suitable cutting tool, carefully cut the 2 positive crankcase ventilation tube connectors (1).

  63. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (2) - Loosen

    Charge Air Bypass Valve Hose Clamp (1) - Loosen

  65. Charge Air Bypass Valve Hose (2) - Reposition
  66. Retainer Spring (3) - Disengage

    Auxiliary Air Cleaner Outlet Duct (1) - Remove

    Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  69. Retainer (2) - Remove [2x]
  70. Oil Level Indicator Tube (3) - Reposition

    Air Cleaner Outlet Resonator Bracket (1) - Remove

    Replace only the components necessary to complete the repair.

    Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector.

  74. Ignition Coil (2) - Remove

  76. Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (2) - Remove [10x]
  77. Engine Wiring Harness (3) - Reposition

    Camshaft Housing Cover Bolt (1) - Remove [15x]

    Camshaft Cover (1) - Remove

  80. Camshaft Cover Seal (2) - Remove and DISCARD

    Rotate the oil filler tube (1) counterclockwise and remove from the camshaft cover.

    Inspect the oil filter tube seal (2) on the oil filler tube (1) and replace as necessary.

    EN-46101  Spark Plug Tube Seal Guides (1) - Install [3x]

  84. Clean the mating surface of the cylinder head and the camshaft cover.
