Circuit/System Verification

    NOTE:
    • This procedure uses generic scan tool control functions and parameter names.For detailed scan tool information, refer to: Diagnostic Aids
    • For component location, refer to: Diagnostic Aids or Repair Instructions
  1. Engine - Idling - At normal operating temperature
  2. Verify the appropriate scan tool parameter:
    • Heated Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit High Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Heated Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Heated Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit Open Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • If not the specified state 

      Refer to: Circuit/System Testing

    • Go to next step: If the specified state 
  3. Verify the appropriate scan tool parameter: Heated Oxygen Sensor Heater = 0.1 to 4.3 A
    • If not in the specified range 

      Refer to: Circuit/System Testing

    • Go to next step: If within the specified range 
  4. Verify the appropriate scan tool parameter: Heated Oxygen Sensor Heater = The parameter value should not change

    Perform the action while monitoring the parameter:

    • Wiggle the harness and connector: B52 Heated Oxygen Sensor
    • Wiggle the harness and connector: K20 Engine Control Module
    • If the parameter value changes 

      Repair as necessary - Wiring / Terminal (s) / Electrical Connector (s)

    • Go to next step: If the parameter value does not change 
  5. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

    Verify the DTC does not set.

    • If the DTC sets 

      Refer to: Circuit/System Testing

    • Go to next step: If the DTC is not set 
  6. All OK.
