- NOTE:
Before removing the propeller shaft from the vehicle, paint or scribe references marks on the transmission flange to the propeller shaft and the rear differential drive flange to ensure minimal driveline system imbalance.
Mark (2) the relationship of the propeller shaft flange (3) and the output flange (1) of the transmission.
Mark (3) the relationship of the propeller shaft flange (1) and the rear axle pinion flange (2).
- NOTE:
Ensure that the propeller shaft is secured to the jack stand.
Support the propeller shaft with a suitable jack stand.
- Remove the 3 front propeller shaft bolts (2) and the 3 front propeller shaft nuts (1).
Remove the 3 rear propeller shaft bolts (1) and the 3 rear propeller shaft nuts (2).
Remove the 2 propeller shaft bearing support bolts (1).
- CAUTION:
Care should be taken not to use sharp or pry tools when separating the propeller shaft coupler from the drive flange. Damage to the coupler could result and replacement of the entire propeller shaft would be required.
NOTE:It may be necessary to apply a small amount of penetrating lubricant or WD-40® to the location to aid in separation of the propeller shaft coupling.
If the propeller shaft does not easily separate from the differential, transmission, use a rubber mallet to gently tap the locations (1) on the rubber coupling to separate.
Remove the propeller shaft (1) from the vehicle.
- Using a suitable jack stand, support the rear of the transmission.
Transmission Mount Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

- Remove the manual transmission control lever base pin (2).
Using a suitable flat-blade tool, release the left side manual transmission control lever base pin retaining tab (1), while sliding the manual transmission control lever base pin (2) outward. The pin will lock again at the outer transmission boss. Using a suitable flat-blade tool, insert the tool between the boss and the rubber mount on the shift control assembly to release the manual transmission control lever base pin retaining tab to slide it further out of the transmission boss. Reposition the transmission slightly to allow extra clearance to completely remove the manual transmission control lever base pin.
- Using a suitable flat-blade tool, release the right side manual transmission control lever base pin retaining tab (1), while sliding the manual transmission control lever base pin (2) outward. The manual transmission control lever base pin will lock again at the outer transmission boss.

- Inspect the transmission fluid cooler, hoses, and pipes for leaks or damage. Replace as necessary.
- Transfer components as necessary.
With wheels of the vehicle facing straight ahead, secure the steering wheel utilizing steering column anti-rotation pin, steering column lock, or a strap to prevent rotation. Locking of the steering column will prevent damage and a possible malfunction of the SIR system. The steering wheel must be secured in position before disconnecting the following components:
After disconnecting these components, do not rotate the steering wheel or move the front tires and wheels. Failure to follow this procedure may cause the SIR coil assembly to become un-centered and cause possible damage to the SIR coil. If you think the SIR coil has become un-centered, refer to your specific SIR coil's centering procedure to re-center SIR Coil.
Care must be taken when disassembling the clutch actuator cylinder hose connector from the clutch actuator cylinder. Do not remove, mispositioned, or damage the internal restrictor valve/Peak Torque Limiter (PTL). Operating a vehicle with a removed, mispositioned, or damaged PTL valve could result in severe driveline damage.
Do not leave the engine tilted on its mounts for an extended amount of time.
