- DT - 22912-B Rear Pinion and Axle Bearing Remover
- J-36513 Split Plate
- J-39442 Press Adapter
- J-39473 Mainshaft Bearing Installer/Adapter
Equivalent regional tools: Special Tools
- Install the input shaft in the clutch housing.
- Install the main shaft on the input shaft.
- Using a feeler gauge, measure the gap between the 4th speed gear blocking ring and the 4th speed gear.
- Replace the 4th speed gear friction cone and blocking ring when the gap is less than 1.27 mm (0.050 in).
6th gear (1) - Remove
- Main Shaft Center Bearing (2) - Remove
- Using the J-36513 Split Plate (7) and J-39442 Press Adapter (8), remove the 1st gear (3).
- 1st Gear Bearing (4) - Remove
- 1st Gear Thrust Washer (5) - Remove
- 1st and 2nd Gear Synchronizer Retaining Ring (6) - Remove
1st Gear Synchronizer Inner Cone (1) - Remove
- 1st Gear Synchronizer Outer Cone (2) - Remove
- 1st Gear Blocking Ring (3) - Remove
1st and 2nd Gear Synchronizer (1) - Remove
- 2nd Gear Blocking Ring (2) - Remove
- 2nd Gear Synchronizer Outer Cone (3) - Remove
- 2nd Gear Synchronizer Inner Cone (4) - Remove
- Using the J-36513 Split Plate (8) and J-39442 Press Adapter (9), remove the 2nd gear (5).
- 2nd Gear Bearing Spacer (6) - Remove
- 2nd Gear Bearing (7) - Remove
3rd and 4th Gear Synchronizer Retaining Ring (1) - Remove
- 3rd and 4th Gear Synchronizer (2) - Remove
- 3rd Gear Blocking Ring (3) - Remove
- 3rd Gear Synchronizer Outer Cone (4) - Remove
- 3rd Gear Synchronizer Inner Cone (5) - Remove
- Using the J-39473 Mainshaft Bearing Installer/Adapter (9), remove the 3rd gear (6).
- 3rd Gear Bearing Spacer (7) - Remove
- 3rd Gear Bearing (8) - Remove
Main Shaft Front Bearing Roller Thrust Washer (1) - Remove
- Main Shaft Front Bearing (2) - Remove
- Main Shaft Bearing (3) - Remove
Using the DT - 22912-B Rear Pinion and Axle Bearing Remover (2) and a press, remove the input shaft bearing (1).
NOTE:
Measure the 4th speed gear synchronizer wear gap before disassembling the main shaft.
CAUTION:
Do not overtighten the J 36513 split plate past the gear teeth or damage to gear may occur.
