Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Cadillac CT4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Seat Adjuster Switch Circuit Test

  1. Ignition/Vehicle OFF, disconnect the connector at the S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver.
  2. Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal J and ground.
    • If 10 Ω or greater
    1. Test circuit 2150 for an open/high resistance.
      • If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found
    2. Repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
    • Go to next step: If less than 10 Ω
  3. Ignition/Vehicle in Service Mode.
  4. Verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal A and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate
    1. Test circuit 5040 for a short to ground.
      • If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found
    2. Test circuit 5040 for an open/high resistance.
      • If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found
    3. Verify the fuse is OK and there is voltage at the fuse.
    • Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates
  5. Test or replace the S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver.

Seat Motor Circuit Test

  1. Ignition/Vehicle OFF, disconnect the connector at the appropriate seat actuator listed below:
    • M50D Front Seat Tilt Adjuster Actuator - Driver
    • M51D Front Seat Adjuster Actuator - Driver
    • M55D Front Seat Vertical Adjuster Actuator - Driver
    • M56D Front Seat Recliner Actuator - Driver
  2. Connect a test lamp between control circuit terminal 1 and control circuit terminal 3.
  3. Ignition/Vehicle in Service Mode.
  4. Verify the test lamp illuminates when commanding the seat motor Up/Down or Forward/Rearward using the S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate during either of the commands
    1. Test the appropriate circuits listed below for a short to ground:
      • M50D Front Seat Tilt Adjuster Actuator - Driver = Circuit 287 and circuit 288
      • M51D Front Seat Adjuster Actuator - Driver = Circuit 284 and circuit 285
      • M55D Front Seat Vertical Adjuster Actuator - Driver = Circuit 282 and circuit 283
      • M56D Front Seat Recliner Actuator - Driver = Circuit 276 and circuit 277
      • If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found
    2. Test the appropriate circuits listed below for an open/high resistance:
      • M50D Front Seat Tilt Adjuster Actuator - Driver = Circuit 287 and circuit 288
      • M51D Front Seat Adjuster Actuator - Driver = Circuit 284 and circuit 285
      • M55D Front Seat Vertical Adjuster Actuator - Driver = Circuit 282 and circuit 283
      • M56D Front Seat Recliner Actuator - Driver = Circuit 276 and circuit 277
      • If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found
    3. Replace the S64D Seat Adjuster Switch - Driver.
    • Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates during each of the commands
  5. Test or replace the appropriate seat actuator listed below:
    • M50D Front Seat Tilt Adjuster Actuator - Driver
    • M51D Front Seat Adjuster Actuator - Driver
    • M55D Front Seat Vertical Adjuster Actuator - Driver
    • M56D Front Seat Recliner Actuator - Driver
