Circuit/System Testing

- Ignition/Vehicle OFF, disconnect the connector at the appropriate front seat bladder control module listed below. It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down.
- K104D Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Driver
- K104P Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Passenger
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- If 10 Ω or greater
- Test the appropriate circuit for an open/high resistance:
- K104D Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Driver = Circuit 2150
- K104P Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Passenger = Circuit 2250
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found
- Repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
- Go to next step: If less than 10 Ω
- Ignition/Vehicle in Service Mode.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate
- Test the appropriate circuit for a short to ground:
- K104D Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Driver = Circuit 2040
- K104P Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Passenger = Circuit 740
- If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found
- Test the appropriate circuit for an open/high resistance:
- K104D Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Driver = Circuit 2040
- K104P Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Passenger = Circuit 740
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found
- Verify the fuse is OK and there is voltage at the fuse.
- Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates
- Ignition/Vehicle OFF, connect the connector at the K104 Front Seat Bladder Control Module and disconnect the connector at the appropriate front seat lumbar switch listed below:
- S65D Front Seat Lumbar Switch - Driver
- S65P Front Seat Lumbar Switch - Passenger
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the low reference circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- If 10 Ω or greater
- Test the appropriate circuit for an open/high resistance:
- S65D Front Seat Lumbar Switch - Driver = Circuit 2193
- S65P Front Seat Lumbar Switch - Passenger = Circuit 2194
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found
- Replace the appropriate front seat bladder control module listed below:
- K104D Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Driver
- K104P Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Passenger
- Go to next step: If less than 10 Ω
- Ignition/Vehicle in Service Mode.
- Test for 4.8 - 5.2 V between the signal circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If less than 4.8 V
- Test the appropriate circuit for a short to ground:
- S65D Front Seat Lumbar Switch - Driver = Circuit 1069
- S65P Front Seat Lumbar Switch - Passenger = Circuit 1068
- If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found
- Test the appropriate circuit for an open/high resistance:
- S65D Front Seat Lumbar Switch - Driver = Circuit 1069
- S65P Front Seat Lumbar Switch - Passenger = Circuit 1068
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found
- Replace the appropriate front seat bladder control module listed below:
- K104D Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Driver
- K104P Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Passenger
- If greater than 5.2 V
- Test the appropriate circuit for a short to voltage:
- S65D Front Seat Lumbar Switch - Driver = Circuit 1069
- S65P Front Seat Lumbar Switch - Passenger = Circuit 1068
- If a short to voltage is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to voltage is not found
- Replace the appropriate front seat bladder control module listed below:
- K104D Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Driver
- K104P Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Passenger
- Go to next step: If between 4.8 - 5.2 V
- Ignition/Vehicle OFF, connect the connector at the S65 Front Seat Lumbar Switch and disconnect the connector at the K104 Front Seat Bladder Control Module.
- Connect a DDM between the signal circuit terminal 6 and the low reference circuit terminal 5.
- Test for the resistance values listed below while pressing the appropriate S65 Front Seat Lumbar Switch.
- 520 - 575 Ω for the lumbar forward switch
- 1325 - 1465 Ω for the lumbar rearward switch
- 2680 - 2965 Ω for the lumbar up switch
- 5340 - 5905 Ω for the lumbar down switch
- If not between the specified values
Test or replace the S65 Front Seat Lumbar Switch.
- Go to next step: If between the specified values
- Ignition/Vehicle OFF, connect the connector at the K104 Front Seat Bladder Control Module and disconnect the connector at the appropriate front seat back lumbar pump listed below:
- G31D Front Seat Back Lumbar Pump - Driver
- G31P Front Seat Back Lumbar Pump - Passenger
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If 10 Ω or greater
- Test the appropriate circuit for an open/high resistance:
- G31D Front Seat Back Lumbar Pump - Driver = Circuit 2150
- G31P Front Seat Back Lumbar Pump - Passenger = Circuit 2250
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found
- Repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
- Go to next step: If less than 10 Ω
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- Ignition/Vehicle in Service Mode.
- Verify the test lamp turns ON and OFF when pressing and releasing the lumbar forward switch.
- If the test lamp remains OFF
- Test the appropriate circuit for a short to ground:
- G31D Front Seat Back Lumbar Pump - Driver = Circuit 4891
- G31P Front Seat Back Lumbar Pump - Passenger = Circuit 4890
- If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found
- Test the appropriate circuit for an open/high resistance:
- G31D Front Seat Back Lumbar Pump - Driver = Circuit 4891
- G31P Front Seat Back Lumbar Pump - Passenger = Circuit 4890
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found
- Replace the appropriate front seat bladder control module listed below:
- K104D Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Driver
- K104P Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Passenger
- If the test lamp is always ON
- Test the appropriate circuit for a short to voltage:
- G31D Front Seat Back Lumbar Pump - Driver = Circuit 4891
- G31P Front Seat Back Lumbar Pump - Passenger = Circuit 4890
- If a short to voltage is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to voltage is not found
- Replace the appropriate front seat bladder control module listed below:
- K104D Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Driver
- K104P Front Seat Bladder Control Module - Passenger
- Go to next step: If the test lamp turns ON and OFF
- Replace the G31 Front Seat Back Lumbar Pump.
