Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the automatic transmission range selector lever. Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Replacement 
  2. Remove the control valve body. Control Valve Body Replacement (M5N) , or Control Valve Body Replacement (M5U)

    Remove and Discard the manual shift shaft detent lever hub pin (3).

  4. Remove and Discard the manual shift shaft pin (1).
  5. Lower the transmission enough to remove the manual shift shaft and the manual shift shaft seal. Transmission Replacement (M5U with LF4) , or Transmission Replacement (M5N with LTG) , or Transmission Replacement (M5N with LGX) 
  6. Remove the manual shift shaft (2).

    Remove and Discard the manual shift shaft seal (1) using DT-45201  cooler line seal remover.
