Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Chevrolet and GMC)Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (Cadillac) .
  2. Detach the heater inlet and outlet hose bracket retainer and reposition the bracket.
  3. Remove the ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement .

  4. Remove the valve rocker arm cover bolts (1).

  5. Remove the valve rocker arm cover (1).
  6. Remove and DISCARD valve rocker arm gasket (2). Refer to Replacing Engine Gaskets .
  7. Clean and inspect the rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Cleaning and Inspection .
