Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the oil indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement .
  2. Remove the left side PCV hose/pipe. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Left Side - L83, L86) Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Right Side - L83, L86) Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Center - L83) Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Center - L86) .
  3. Remove the ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement .

  4. Remove the valve rocker arm cover bolts (1).

  5. Remove the valve rocker arm cover (1).
  6. Remove and DISCARD valve rocker arm gasket (2). Refer to Replacing Engine Gaskets .
  7. Clean and inspect the rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Cleaning and Inspection .
