Installation Procedure

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  1. Install a NEW oil cooler adapter gasket (3) and the oil cooler hose adapter (2) and tighten the fasteners (1) to 12 N.m (9 lb ft).
  2. Transfer the oil cooler bracket from the original oil cooler hoses as needed.

  3. Install the oil cooler bracket fastener and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
  4. Raise the axle into position.
  5. Install the left axle bolts and tighten to 75 N.m (55 lb ft).
  6. Remove the adjustable jack.
    7. NOTE:

    If equipped with a 2WD follow steps 7 and 8.

  7. Install the electric belt drive rack and pinion steering gear. Refer to Electric Belt Drive Rack and Pinion Steering Gear Replacement .
  8. Connect the intermediate steering shaft at the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement
  9. Install the steering gear skid shield. Refer to Steering Gear Skid Shield Replacement .
  10. Lower the vehicle.

  11. Install the engine oil cooler hoses (2) into the radiator fittings (3). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  12. Install the engine oil cooler hoses (2) into the retainer (1).
  13. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
