Installation Procedure
NOTE:
- The automatic transmission flex plate does not use a locating pin for alignment and will not initially seat against the crankshaft flange or spacer, if applicable, but will be pulled onto the crankshaft by the automatic transmission flex plate bolts.
- This procedure requires a three stage tightening process to properly seat the automatic transmission flex plate.
- Install the automatic transmission flex plate (3), scuff plate (2), and NEW bolts (1) to the crankshaft. Hand tight only at this time.
- Tighten the automatic transmission flex plate bolts using the following sequence:
- Tighten the engine flex plate bolts (1 - 8) a first pass in sequence to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
- Tighten the engine flex plate bolts (1 - 8) a second pass in sequence to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Tighten the engine flex plate bolts (1 - 8) a final pass in sequence an additional 45 degrees using EN-45059 angle meter.
- Install the automatic transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement .
