Installation Procedure

  1. If installing a new master cylinder, bench bleed the master cylinder. Refer to Brake Master Cylinder Bench Bleeding .

  2. Assemble the master cylinder (1) to the O-ring seal (2).
    3. NOTE:

    Do not place the O-ring seal in the groove in the master cylinder body.

  3. Ensure the O-ring seal is properly seated against the base of the brake master cylinder body.
  4. Install the master cylinder assembly to the power vacuum brake booster.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  5. Install the master cylinder nuts (1) and tighten to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).

  6. Connect the master cylinder secondary brake pipe fitting (1) and tighten the fitting to 32 N.m (24 lb ft).
  7. Connect the master cylinder primary brake pipe fitting (2) and tighten the fitting to 32 N.m (24 lb ft).
  8. Connect the brake fluid level indicator switch electrical connector.
  9. Install the driver side front fender rear upper brace. Refer to Front Fender Rear Upper Brace Replacement .
  10. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) .
