Circuit/System Description

The body control module (BCM) applies battery voltage to the interior dome/courtesy lamps through the dome/courtesy lamps control circuit at terminal 1 X7. When any door is opened, the jam switch contacts close and the BCM receives a door-ajar input. If the BCM receives a door lock or unlock input or a rear hatch open input, the BCM will activate the dome/courtesy lamps control circuit terminal 1 X7, providing battery voltage to all dome/courtesy lamps supplied by the circuit. The dome lamp switch contains 3 positions: DOOR, OFF, and ON. The ON position provides a ground for continuous operation and the dome/courtesy lamps will remain illuminated until the switch is placed in either the DOOR or OFF position. When placed in the DOOR position, the dome/courtesy lamps operation is controlled by the body control module (BCM) based on inputs mentioned above. With the dome lamp switch in the OFF position, all dome/courtesy lamps operation will be disabled and will not illuminate until the dome lamp switch is placed in the ON or DOOR positions. In the event that any of these dome/courtesy lamps were to remain illuminated for more than 10 minutes with the ignition switch in the OFF position, the BCM will deactivate the dome/courtesy lamps control circuit to prevent total battery discharge.
