Preliminary Procedures Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle . Remove the transfer case shield, if equipped. Refer to Transfer Case Shield Replacement .
1	Transfer Case Drain Plug CAUTION: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution . Procedure Allow the transfer case to drain completely. Apply sealant to the plug threads. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers . NOTE: Use only hand tools to remove and install the drain plug. Tighten 20 N.m (15 lb ft)
2	Transfer Case Fill Plug Procedure Fill the transfer case to the bottom of the fill plug hole with transfer case fluid. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers . Apply sealant to the plug threads. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers . NOTE: Use only hand tools to remove and install the fill plug. Tighten 18 N.m (13 lb ft)

Transfer Case Drain Plug

Procedure

Allow the transfer case to drain completely.
Apply sealant to the plug threads. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers .

NOTE: Use only hand tools to remove and install the drain plug.

Tighten
20 N.m (15 lb ft)

Transfer Case Fill Plug

Procedure

Fill the transfer case to the bottom of the fill plug hole with transfer case fluid. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers .
Apply sealant to the plug threads. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants and Sealers .

NOTE: Use only hand tools to remove and install the fill plug.

Tighten
18 N.m (13 lb ft)
