Circuit/System Verification

- Verify the range selector lever cable adjustment is correct. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment

- If the range selector lever cable adjustment is not OK
Adjust, repair or replace as necessary.
- Go to next step: If the range selector lever cable adjustment is OK
- If the range selector lever cable adjustment is not OK
- Ignition On.
- Verify the scan tool Engine Control Module Park/Neutral Position Switch parameter displays Park/Neutral when in Park or Neutral and In Gear when in Reverse or Drive range.
- If Park/Neutral or In Gear is not displayed correctly
Refer to Circuit/System Testing.
- Go to next step: If Park/Neutral or In Gear is displayed correctly
- If Park/Neutral or In Gear is not displayed correctly
- Verify the scan tool the 9 V Reference 1 and 9 V Reference 2 Circuit Status does not display Malfunction.
- If Malfunction is displayed

- Go to next step: If Malfunction is not displayed
- If Malfunction is displayed
- Verify the scan tool the internal mode switch A/B/C/P/S circuit voltages are correct for Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive and Manual Mode position. Refer to Transmission Internal Mode Switch Voltage

- If the circuit voltages are not OK
Refer to Circuit/System Testing.
- Go to next step: If the circuit voltages are OK
- If the circuit voltages are not OK
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observe from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
- Verify the DTC does not set.
- If the DTC sets

- Go to next step: If the DTC does not set
- If the DTC sets
- All OK.
