Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Chevrolet Suburban 3500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
  • All gasket surfaces should be free of oil or other foreign material during assembly.
  • DO NOT reuse the valve rocker arm cover gasket.
  • If the oil fill tube has been removed from the rocker arm cover, install a NEW fill tube during assembly.

  1. Install a NEW rocker cover gasket (1) into the valve rocker arm cover lip.

  3. Install the valve rocker arm cover.
  4. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  5. Tighten the rocker arm cover bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

  6. Connect the right positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube to the valve rocker cover. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Right Side) .

  8. Apply threadlock to the threads of the ignition coil bracket bolts. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
  9. Position the ignition coil bracket (2) onto the rocker cover.
  10. Install the ignition coil bracket studs (1).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the studs to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

  11. Connect the spark plug wires to the ignition coils. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement .

  13. Install the heater hose bracket and nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  15. Install the surge tank outlet hose (2) to the heater hose bracket (3).

  17. Install the heater inlet hose (2) to the heater hose bracket (3).

  19. Position the generator battery cable as necessary.
  20. Install the generator battery cable clip (1) to the ignition coil bracket stud.

  22. Position the engine wiring harness (electronic throttle control branch) as necessary.
  23. Install the engine wiring harness (electronic throttle control branch) clip (6) to the ignition coil bracket stud.
  24. Connect the engine harness electrical connector (1) to the ignition coil wire harness.
  25. Install the CPA retainer (2).

  27. If equipped with CNG, install the outer fuel rail bracket bolts (1) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
  28. If equipped with CNG, position and attach the harness retainers at the outer bracket.
  29. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
