Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Chevrolet Suburban 3500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
  • All gasket surfaces should be free of oil an/or other foreign material during assembly.
  • DO NOT reuse the valve rocker arm cover gasket.
  • If the PCV valve grommet has been removed from the rocker cover, install a NEW grommet during assembly.

  1. Install a NEW rocker cover gasket (1).

  2. Install the valve rocker arm cover.
    3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Tighten the rocker arm cover bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

  4. Install the left positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (Left Side) .

  5. Apply threadlock to the threads of the ignition coil bracket bolts. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
  6. Position the ignition coil bracket (2) onto the rocker cover.
  7. Install the ignition coil bracket bolts (1).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

  8. Connect the spark plug wires to the ignition coils. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement .

  9. Position the engine harness, as necessary.
  10. Install the engine harness clip (4) to the ignition coil bracket stud.
  11. Connect the engine harness electrical connector (1) to the ignition coil wire harness.
  12. Install the CPA retainer (2).

  13. If equipped with CNG, install the outer fuel rail bracket bolts (1) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
  14. If equipped with CNG, position and attach the harness retainers at the outer bracket.
  15. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
