Installation Procedure

    NOTE:

    he threads of the camshaft retainer bolts and threaded holes of the engine block must be free of residue and debris prior to the application of threadlocker to ensure proper adhesion and fastener retention.

  1. Prepare the camshaft retainer bolts and engine block threaded holes for assembly:
    • Thoroughly clean the residue from the bolt threads with denatured alcohol and allow to dry.
    • Thoroughly clean the residue from the threaded holes of the engine block with denatured alcohol and allow to dry.
    • Apply threadlocker to 2/3 of the threaded length of the camshaft retainer bolts. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
    • Ensure there are no gaps in the threadlocker along the filled area of the bolts.
    • Allow the threadlocker to cure approximately 10 minutes before installation.

  3. Install the camshaft (1), camshaft retainer (2), and camshaft retainer bolts (3). Refer to Camshaft Installation .
  4. Install the CMP actuator and timing chain. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator Replacement 
  5. Install the cylinder heads. Refer to Cylinder Head Replacement - Left Side , and Cylinder Head Replacement - Right Side .
  6. Install the valve lifter oil manifold. Refer to Valve Lifter Oil Manifold Replacement .
  7. Install the engine. Refer to Engine Replacement .
