Action Taken When the DTC Sets

DTC P0973 is a Type A DTC.
The TCM forces the torque converter clutch (TCC) OFF.
The TCM commands maximum line pressure.
The TCM freezes transmission adaptive functions.
The TCM enables Torque Management.
The TCM inhibits TAP function.
The TCM inhibits manual shifting of forward gears.
The TCM inhibits Tow/Haul mode.
The TCM inhibits neutral idle.
The TCM commands neutral gear if the output speed sensor signal is 1350 RPM or greater.
The TCM commands 2nd gear if the output speed sensor signal is less than 1350 RPM. No upshift allowed.

The TCM inhibits 1st gear.
The TCM inhibits neutral idle.
