Conditions for Running the DTC

The ignition voltage is between 11 - 32 V.
The engine OFF time is greater than 8 h
The barometric pressure (BARO) is greater than 70 kPa.
The fuel level is between 10 - 90%.
The startup engine coolant temperature (ECT) is less than 35°C (95°F).
The startup intake air temperature (IAT) is between 4 - 34°C (39 - 93°F).
DTC P0496 runs, right after startup, once per cold start, for up to 90 s, when the above conditions are met. This test will run with the purge valve and the vent valve closed.
