Circuit/System Testing
NOTE:
Circuit/System Verification must be performed before proceeding with Circuit/System Testing.
Head-Up Display=Inoperative
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: X1 @ P16 Instrument Cluster
- Disconnect the electrical connector: P29 Head-Up Display
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:Serial Data circuit terminal 21 @ P16 Instrument Cluster Component harness & Ground
- If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 1 V
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Serial Data circuit terminal 21 @ P16 Instrument Cluster Component harness & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Disconnect the electrical connector:S70R Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Right
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:Serial Data circuit terminal 5 @ Component harness & Ground
- If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If less than 1 V
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Serial Data circuit terminal 5 @ Component harness & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Replace the component:Low-Voltage Differential Signaling Cable@P29 Head-Up Display & P16 Instrument Cluster
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Perform the scan tool function:Head-Up Display Pattern Check
- Verify the component activates:P29 Head-Up Display
- If the specified state
All OK.
- Go to next step: If not the specified state
- If the specified state
- Connect the component:P16 Instrument Cluster & S70R Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Right
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify the function:Steering Wheel Controls
- If the specified state
Replace the component:P29 Head-Up Display
- Go to next step: If not the specified state
- If the specified state
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:S70R Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Right
- Connect the component:P29 Head-Up Display
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify the function:Head-Up Display Switch
- If the specified state
Replace the component:S70R Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Right
- Go to next step: If not the specified state
- If the specified state
- Replace the component:P16 Instrument Cluster
Head-Up Display Switch=Inoperative
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: S27 Head-Up Display Switch
- Test for less than 10 ohms between the test points: Low Reference circuit terminal 3 & Ground
- If 10 ohms or greater
- Disconnect the electrical connector: P29 Head-Up Display
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Low Reference circuit terminal 3 @ Component harness & The other end of the circuit
- If ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component: P29 Head-Up Display
- Go to next step: If less than 10 ohms
- Test for 4.8 to 5.2V between the test points: Signal circuit terminal 4 & Ground
- If less than 4.8 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: P29 Head-Up Display
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Signal circuit terminal 4 @ Component harness & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Signal circuit terminal 4 @ Component harness & The other end of the circuit
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component: P29 Head-Up Display
- If greater than 5.2 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector:P16 Instrument Cluster
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points: Signal circuit terminal 4 @ Component harness & Ground
- If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V - Replace the component: P16 Instrument Cluster
- Go to next step: If between 4.8 V
- Test or replace the component: S27 Head-Up Display Switch
