Removal Procedure

Remove the transmission fluid filter (4). Automatic Transmission Fluid, Fluid Pan and/or Filter Replacement (Rear Wheel Drive) Automatic Transmission Fluid, Fluid Pan and/or Filter Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
Remove and DISCARD the 2 transmission fluid baffle bolts, then remove the fluid baffle from the transmission. Transmission Fluid Baffle Replacement
Remove the transmission control wiring harness (4). Transmission Control Wiring Harness Replacement (M5U)
Remove the manual shaft detent lever spring retaining bolt (1) and the manual shaft detent lever spring (2).
Pull back the spring (2), then disconnect the manual valve (1) from the manual shift shaft position switch assembly linkage (3).
Using a suitable pry tool, unlock the retainer (2).
- Remove the transmission fluid pump driven sprocket (1). Refer to transmission fluid baffle and driven sprocket in Control Valve Assembly and Transmission Wiring Harness Removal .
Using DT-48285 Valve Body Torx Plus Socket remove the 11 valve body bolts (1, 2) and the valve body assembly (3) from the transmission.
