Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment

This style cable does not require periodic adjustment, however, when related components are removed or replaced, the cable should be checked for optimal adjustment. To reset the range selector cable after servicing, perform the following procedure:

  1. Release the locking tab to allow for adjustment.
  2. Ensure that the shift lever and the shifter are in the Park position.
  3. WARNING:

After installing the transmission range selector shift cable, pull up and push down on ALL connections to verify that the connections are fully seated and properly engaged. Failure to perform this task can result in the vehicle not being able to shift into PARK causing potential vehicle damage and bodily injury.

    NOTE:

Ensure that the locking tab on the shift cable is fully seated. In order to properly seat the locking tab, it may be necessary to use the aid of a tool. When properly seated, the top of the locking tab should be flush with the housing.

  4. Secure the cable adjustment lock into place.
