Removal Procedure

- Unlock the transmission oil level indicator.
- Remove the transmission oil level indicator.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Support the transmission with a suitable jack.
- Remove the transmission crossmember. Refer to Transmission Support Crossmember Replacement (2WD)Transmission Support Crossmember Replacement (4WD) .
- Remove the transmission oil level indicator tube bracket nut.
- Remove the exhaust heat shield from the transmission. Refer to Transmission Heat Shield Replacement .
- Lower rear of transmission to allow for clearance to remove transmission oil level indicator tube.
- Remove the transmission oil level indicator tube from the transmission.
- Raise rear of transmission to allow for clearance to remove transmission oil level indicator tube from vehicle.
- Remove the oil level indicator tube (1) and seal (2) assembly.
- Remove the seal (2) from the oil level indicator tube (1).
NOTE:
Tie the engine wiring harness, between the oil level indicator tube and engine, to the engine, so when installing the new oil level indicator tube the harness will not get caught on the oil level indicator tube.
