CAUTION: Do not damage the sealing surfaces of the transfer cases or the shafts when prying the seals for removal. Damaging the sealing surface may cause leakage or require replacement of the damaged component. Preliminary Procedure Remove the rear propeller shaft. Refer to Rear Propeller Shaft Replacement (1500)Rear Propeller Shaft Replacement (Heavy Duty)Rear Propeller Shaft Replacement (M5U, 2WD) .
1	Transfer Case Output Shaft Seal Procedure Remove the seal using an appropriate tool. Install the seal with the notch at the top and the weep hole at the bottom. NOTE: Use the appropriate seal installer depending on application. Special Tools DT-48210 Seal Installer GE-8092 Driver Handle For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

Procedure

Remove the seal using an appropriate tool.
Install the seal with the notch at the top and the weep hole at the bottom.
