- The transfer case control module detects a transfer case range position sensor voltage that does not constantly change, but remains low, <0.25 V, indicating a short to ground.
Or
- The transfer case control module detects a gear position sensor voltage that does not constantly change, but remains high, >6.0 V, indicating a short to voltage.

The transfer case control module does not receive a sensor reference voltage 1 circuit, also known as the 5V reference 1 circuit, of 4.8 - 5.2 volts.

The transfer case control module detects less than 4.8 V on the transfer case reference voltage 1 circuit, also known as the 5V reference 1 circuit.

The transfer case control module detects greater than 5.2 V on the transfer case sensor reference voltage 1 circuit, also known as the 5V reference 1 circuit.
