Removal Procedure

Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (LF3, LGX) and/or Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (LT4, LTG)
Install the J-45012 Holding Fixture (3) to the propeller shaft transmission flange (2).

Remove and Discard the propeller shaft transmission flange nut (1).
CAUTION: Do not reuse the flange nut. Reusing the flange nut may cause damage to the transmission.

Remove the propeller shaft transmission flange (2) from the output shaft.
NOTE: If the propeller shaft transmission flange is not easily removed with J 45012 Holding Fixture use. DT 38416 B Harmonic Balancer Remover to remove the flange.
Use the J-6125-B Slide Hammer and J-23129 Seal Remover to remove the propeller shaft transmission seal (3) from the case extension housing.
NOTE: Do not scrape or gouge the case extension housing while removing the output shaft seal.
