Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection

  3. Remove the oil cooler inlet hose. Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement (LFX)Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement (LF3)
  4. Remove the oil cooler outlet hose. Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement (LFX)Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement (LF3)

  6. Remove the wire harness retainer (2) from the control valve body cover stud, if equipped.
  7. Disconnect and reposition the battery positive and negative cable from in front of the valve body cover. Battery Positive and Negative Cable Replacement (LFX)Battery Positive and Negative Cable Replacement (LF3)
  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  9. Drain the transmission. Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill 
  10. Disconnect the control valve body transmission control module (TCM) electrical connector (1).

  12. Remove the 2 control valve body cover studs M6 x 30.
  13. Remove the 12 control valve body cover bolts M6 x 30.
  14. Remove the control valve body cover.
  15. Remove the control valve body cover gasket.
  16. CAUTION:

    Support the control solenoid valve assembly around the connector when removing the seal. Excessive pulling force can damage the internal electrical connections.

  17. Remove the control valve body cover wiring connector hole seal.
  18. Remove all traces of the old gasket material. Clean the transmission case and control valve body cover gasket surfaces.
