Rear Axle Temperature Sensor

The rear axle temperature sensor is a two wire sensor that is a variable resistor type. It is used by the Instrument Panel Cluster to monitor the temperature of the rear axle. The instrument cluster (IPC) provides a 5 V reference and signal. The temperature sensor is a variable resistive type mounted on the rear differential.

The IPC displays the following messages.

• Differential Hot Reduce Speed is displayed and the chime sounds if the differential fluid temperature exceeds 150°C (300°F).
• Service Differential Sensor is displayed when a DTC code is set.
