Circuit/System Description
Trailer Park Lamps
The trailer park lamp relay coil and switch contacts are supplied with battery voltage at all times. When the headlamp switch is placed in the PARK or HEAD positions, the body control module (BCM) energizes the trailer park lamp relay by applying ground to the trailer park lamp relay control circuit. With the trailer park lamp relay energized, the relay switch contacts close and battery voltage is applied through the trailer park lamp fuse to the trailer park lamp control circuit which illuminates the trailer park lamps if a trailer is connected.
Trailer Stop/Turn Signal Lamps
The trailer left and right stop/turn signal lamp relay coils and switch contacts are supplied with battery voltage at all times. When the vehicles turn signal/multifunction switch is placed in the turn right or turn left position or the vehicles brake pedal is applied, the body control module (BCM) energizes the appropriate trailer stop/turn signal lamp relay by applying ground to the trailer stop/turn signal lamp relay control circuit. With the trailer stop/turn signal lamp relay energized, the relay switch contacts close and battery voltage is applied through the appropriate fuse to the trailer stop/turn signal lamp control circuit which illuminates the appropriate trailer stop/turn signal lamp if a trailer is connected.
