Diagnostic Aids

- Before any in-depth diagnostics are performed, be aware that DTC C0710 may set if the vehicle has been modified with; suspension lift/lowering kits, the incorrect indexing of the steering shaft to the steering gear or the wrong steering gear installed, or if other than stock size wheels and tires have been installed.
- To correct a fretting condition disconnect the suspect connector and add Nyogel lubricant 760G (dielectric grease) to both sides of the connector terminals. Then reconnect the connector and wipe away any excess lubricant. This will correct the additional terminal contact resistance due to the terminal fretting corrosion.
- Inspect for aftermarket devices which could affect the operation of the ABS. Refer to Checking Aftermarket Accessories .
- During diagnosis, park the vehicle on a level surface.
- The vehicle should not pull in either direction while driving straight on a level surface.
- Verify the steering wheel angle sensor is installed correctly.
- Verify the steering wheel is properly installed with the alignment arrow on the steering wheel aligned to the mark on the steering shaft.
- Verify the steering shaft coupling to the steering gear is properly installed and aligned.
- Find out from the customer the conditions under which the DTC was set. This information will help to duplicate the failure.
- The snapshot function on the scan tool can help find an intermittent DTC.
