Circuit/System Testing - J 44175 Ethanol Content More Than 15 Percent

    NOTE:

    All fuel will need to be removed from the fuel tank. Any fuel left over may increase the ethanol content of the ASTM gasoline being introduced which could lead to incorrect future ethanol calculations.

  1. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining (Dual Tanks - Front) , Fuel Tank Draining (Dual Tanks - Rear) , Fuel Tank Draining (Single Tank) .
  2. Clean the fuel system. Refer to Fuel System Cleaning .
  3. Add fuel containing 10 percent or less ethanol content.
  4. Operate the vehicle until at least 1 liter (0.3 gallon) is used.
  5. Measure the ethanol content with a fuel sample from the fuel rail using the J 44175  Tester. The measured ethanol content should be less than 15 percent.
    • If not within the specified range, repeat steps 1 through 5.
  6. Perform the Fuel Composition Reset using the scan tool.
  7. Perform the Fuel Trim Reset using the scan tool.
