Component Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X175/X176 harness connector at the T12 Automatic Transmission Assembly, connect the DT-48493  jumper harness to the transmission side only.
  2. Verify the resistance between the signal circuit terminal and the low reference circuit terminals listed below is within the expected range for the appropriate drive motor. Compare the actual sensor and circuit resistance to the expected sensor resistance. Refer to Temperature Versus Resistance  .
    • Drive motor 1 circuit terminals 13 and 19
    • Drive motor 2 circuit terminals 22 and 23
    • If below the expected range
    1. Disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate M15 Drive Motor.
    2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit and the low reference circuit.
      • If less than infinite resistance, replace the a/trans wiring harness.
      • If infinite resistance, replace the M15 Drive Motor.
    • If above the expected range
    1. Disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate M15 Drive Motor.
    2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the appropriate signal and low reference circuits end to end.
      • If 2 Ω or greater, replace the a/trans wiring harness.
      • If less than 2 Ω, replace the M15 Drive Motor.
    • If within the expected range
  3. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal listed below and ground for the appropriate drive motor.
    • Drive motor 1 circuit terminal 13
    • Drive motor 2 circuit terminal 22
    • If less than infinite resistance
    1. Disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate M15 Drive Motor.
    2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit and ground.
      • If less than infinite resistance, replace the a/trans wiring harness.
      • If infinite resistance, replace the M15 Drive Motor.
    • If infinite resistance
  4. All OK.
