Installation Procedure - Cover with Seal

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Install the J 41479-2A  crankshaft rear oil seal installation guide cone and bolts onto the rear of the crankshaft.
    2. Fig 1: Identifying Rear Housing Components

  2. Install the NEW rear housing gasket (1), rear housing with seal (2), rear housing-to-engine bolts (3) and oil pan-to-rear housing bolts (4).
    3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Tighten the rear housing-to-engine bolts (3) until snug. Do not overtighten.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the oil pan-to-rear housing bolts (4) to 12 (106 lb in).

  4. Tighten the rear housing-to-engine bolts (3).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 30 (22 lb ft).

  5. Remove the J 41479-2A  crankshaft rear oil seal installation guide.
  6. Install the automatic transmission flexplate. Refer to Automatic Transmission Flex Plate Replacement .
