Circuit/System Testing

Menu Switch Circuit Test

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the S78 turn signal/multifunction switch.
2. Test for less than 30 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 3 X2 and ground.
   • If less than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition ON, test for greater than 4.8 V between the signal circuit terminal 5 and ground.
   • If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal replace the P16 instrument cluster.
4. If all circuits tests normal, replace the S78 turn signal/multifunction switch.

UP, Down, or Set/Clear Switch Circuit Test

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 S78 turn signal/multifunction switch.
2. While holding the Switch UP arrow in the UP position, test for 0.55-0.65k Ω between the signal circuit terminal 12 X2 and the low reference terminal 6 X2 at the switch.
   • If not within the specified range, replace the S78 turn signal/multifunction switch.
3. While holding the Switch DOWN arrow in the DOWN position, test for 1.5-1.7k Ω between the signal circuit terminal 12 X2 and the low reference terminal 6 X2 at the switch.
   • If not within the specified range, replace the S78 turn signal/multifunction switch.
4. While depressing the Switch Set/Clr button, test for 3.0-4.0k Ω between the signal circuit terminal 12 X2 and the low reference terminal 6 X2 at the switch.
   • If not within the specified range, replace the S78 turn signal/multifunction switch.
5. If all circuits tests normal, replace P16 instrument cluster.
