Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the traction control switch or the multifunction switch-I/P.
  2. Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF. It may take up to 2 minutes for all vehicle systems to power down. Test for less than 10 Ω between the appropriate ground circuit terminal listed below and ground.
    • Terminal 3 (with X88 or Z88)
    • Terminal 5 (with Z75)
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Traction Control Switch parameter is Inactive.
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 1 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
  4. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 1 and the appropriate ground circuit terminal listed below. Verify the scan tool Traction Control Switch parameter is Active.
    • Terminal 3 (with X88 or Z88)
    • Terminal 5 (with Z75)
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the traction control switch or the multifunction switch-I/P.
