Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .
  2. Remove the throttle body. Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement .

  3. Loosen the intake manifold duct clamp (1).

    NOTE: Note the location of the water outlet housing bolts.
  4. Remove the bolts (1, 2) securing the water outlet housing to the cylinder heads.

    The water outlet housing uses two different size bolts. The two bottom bolts are approximately 10 mm (0.39 in) longer than the two upper bolts.

  5. Reposition the water outlet housing forward in order to gain access to the camshaft position actuator housing bolts.
  6. Discard the water outlet housing gaskets.

  7. Remove the right exhaust camshaft sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement - Bank 1 (Right Side) Exhaust .
  8. Remove the right intake camshaft sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement - Bank 1 (Right Side) Intake .
  9. Remove the right camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement - Right Side .
  10. Remove the cam sensor harness from the retainers.

  11. Remove the right intake camshaft position actuator solenoid bolts.
  12. Remove the right intake camshaft position actuator solenoid.
  13. Remove the right intake camshaft position actuator solenoid alignment plug and discard.

  14. Remove the right exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoid bolts.
  15. Remove the right exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoid.
  16. Remove the right exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoid alignment plug and discard.

  17. Remove the right camshaft position actuator housing bolts.
  18. Remove the right camshaft position actuator housing.
