Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the engine oil pressure (EOP) sensor.
- Ignition OFF, test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the low reference circuit terminal A and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 volts between the appropriate 5-volt reference circuit terminal and ground.
- 5-volts reference circuit terminal B (LY7)
- 5-volts reference circuit terminal C (LH2 and LC3)
- If less than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- If greater than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Verify the scan tool Engine Oil Pressure Sensor parameter is less than 0.2 volt.
- If greater than the specified range, test the appropriate signal circuit terminal below for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Oil pressure switch signal circuit terminal C (LY7)
- Oil pressure switch signal circuit terminal B (LH2 and LC3)
- Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the appropriate signal circuit terminal and the appropriate 5-volt reference circuit terminal. Verify the scan tool Engine Oil Pressure Sensor parameter is greater than 4.8 volts.
- If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
- Ignition ON, command the indicators OFF with the scan tool.
- If the EOP indicator does not turn OFF, replace the IPC.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the EOP sensor.
