Circuit/System Testing

Instrument Panel Module (IPM) Voltage Out Of Range

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 harness connector at the instrument panel module (IPM).
  2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the following terminals and ground.
    • X3 terminal 1
    • X3 terminal 2
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair the appropriate battery voltage circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition OFF, test for greater than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the following terminals and ground.
    • X3 terminal 3
    • X3 terminal 10
    • If less than 1.0 ohm, test the appropriate ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the IPM.

Rear Integration Module (RIM) Voltage Out Of Range

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 and X4 harness connector at the rear integration module (RIM).
  2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the following terminals and ground.
    • X3 terminal 4
    • X4 terminal 2
    • X4 terminal 7
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair the appropriate battery voltage circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X4 harness connector at the rear integration module (RIM).
  4. Ignition OFF, test for greater than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the following terminals and ground.
    • X4 terminal 4
    • X4 terminal 8
    • If less than 1.0 ohm, test the appropriate ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the RIM.

Engine Control Module Voltage Out Of Range

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the following harness connectors at the engine control module.
    • X1 (LH2 and LC8)
    • X2 (LY7)
  2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the following terminals and ground.
    • X1 terminal 20 (LH2 and LC8)
    • X2 terminal 56 (LY7)
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair the appropriate battery voltage circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the following harness connectors at the engine control module.
    • X2 (LH2, LC8 and LY7)
    • X3 (LH2 and LC8)
  4. Ignition OFF, test for greater than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the following terminals and ground.
    • X2 terminal 73 (LH2 and LC8)
    • X3 terminal 73 (LH2 and LC8)
    • X2 terminal 1 (LY7)
    • X2 terminal 2 (LY7)
    • X2 terminal 3 (LY7)
    • If less than 1.0 ohm, test the appropriate ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the ECM.

Instrument Panel Cluster Voltage Out Of Range

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the instrument panel cluster.
  2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between terminal 2 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair the battery voltage circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition OFF, test for greater than 1.0 ohm of resistance between terminal 5 and ground.
    • If less than 1.0 ohm, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the IPC.
