Removal Procedure

NOTE: When raising or supporting the engine for any reason, do not use a jack under the oil pan, any sheet metal, or the crankshaft pulley.
  1. Remove the upper intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
  2. Partially raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the right wheelhouse liner. Refer to FRONT WHEELHOUSE LINER REPLACEMENT - RIGHT SIDE .

  4. Remove the engine mount to frame bolts (1).
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  6. Undo clip for transmission cooler lines.
  7. Undo the front stabilizer shaft insulators. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Replacement .
  8. Support the differential carrier with a transmission jack.
  9. Remove the right differential carrier mounting nuts and washers.
  10. Lower the differential carrier until it rests on frame/crossmember.
  11. Remove the right front differential carrier support bracket.
  12. Position a screw jack and a block of wood under the engine oil pan.
  13. Remove the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement .
  14. Remove the knock sensor. Refer to KNOCK SENSOR 2 REPLACEMENT .

  15. Remove the two top engine mount to engine bolts (1).
  16. Using the adjustable jack, raise the engine slightly until there is enough clearance to remove the engine mount.

  17. Remove the engine mount.
