Transfer Case Fluid Replacement

Preliminary Procedures Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle . Remove the transfer case shield, if equipped. Refer to Transfer Case Shield Replacement .
1	Transfer Case Drain Plug NOTE: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice . Procedure Allow the transfer case to drain completely. Apply sealant GM P/N 12346004, (Canadian P/N 10953480), or equivalent, to the plug threads. Tip: Use only hand tools to remove and install the drain plug. Tighten: 18 N.m (13 lb ft)
2	Transfer Case Fill Plug Procedure Fill the transfer case to the bottom of the fill plug hole with DEXRON® VI GM P/N 88861003 (Canadian P/N 88861004). Apply sealant GM P/N 12346004, (Canadian P/N 10953480), or equivalent, to the plug threads. Tip: Use only hand tools to remove and install the fill plug. Tighten: 18 N.m (13 lb ft)

Transfer Case Drain Plug

Procedure

Allow the transfer case to drain completely.
Apply sealant GM P/N 12346004, (Canadian P/N 10953480), or equivalent, to the plug threads.

Tip: Use only hand tools to remove and install the drain plug.

Tighten: 18 N.m (13 lb ft)

Transfer Case Fill Plug

Procedure

Fill the transfer case to the bottom of the fill plug hole with DEXRON® VI GM P/N 88861003 (Canadian P/N 88861004).
Apply sealant GM P/N 12346004, (Canadian P/N 10953480), or equivalent, to the plug threads.

Tip: Use only hand tools to remove and install the fill plug.

Tighten: 18 N.m (13 lb ft)
