Piston Inspection Procedure

- Inspect the top of the piston (1) for erosion.
- Inspect the ring lands and ring grooves (2) for cracks, warpage, wear and nicks/burrs that cause binding.
- Inspect the piston skirt coating (3) for excessive wear.
- Inspect the piston skirt (4) for cracks.
- Inspect the piston pin bore (5) for wear, cracks and pin retainer grooves (6) for burrs.
- Replace any piston and/or piston pin that have damage or excessive wear.
