Camshaft Cover Removal - Left Side - Off Vehicle

Tools Required

  1. Loosen the left camshaft position sensor bolts.
  2. Remove the left camshaft position sensors.

  4. Remove the bolts connecting the left camshaft cover ground strap to the left cylinder head and to the left camshaft cover.
  5. Remove the left camshaft cover ground strap.

  7. Loosen the left camshaft cover bolts.
  8. Remove the left camshaft cover.
  9. Use the J 39946  on the nose of the crankshaft in order to align and install the EN 46328  on the rear of the left cylinder head camshafts. See Special Tools .

    CAUTION: The camshaft holding tools must be installed on the camshafts to prevent camshaft rotation. When performing service to the valve train and/or timing components, valve spring pressure can cause the camshafts to rotate unexpectedly and can cause personal injury.
  11. Install the EN 46328  on the left cylinder head camshafts. See Special Tools .
