Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the accessory drive belts. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Generator  and to Drive Belt Replacement - Air Conditioning, Power Steering and Water Pump .
  2. Remove the mechanical fan adapter, if equipped. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Bracket Replacement (LH2) or Engine Cooling Fan Bracket Replacement (LY7) in Engine Cooling.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  5. Remove the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement (LY7) or Starter Motor Replacement (LH2) in Engine Electrical.
  6. Install the EN 46326  . See Special Tools .

  8. Remove the crankshaft balancer bolt.

  10. Place the J 38416-2  crankshaft button into the end of the crankshaft.
  11. Install the J 24420-C  on the crankshaft balancer.

  13. Remove the crankshaft balancer using the J 24420-C  .
