Installation Procedure

  1. Position the crankshaft balancer on the nose of the crankshaft.

  3. Press the crankshaft balancer in place using the J 41998-B  .

  5. Clean the crankshaft balancer bolt threads.
  6. Apply engine oil to the crankshaft balancer bolt threads.
  7. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  8. Install the crankshaft balancer bolt.

    Tighten: 

    1. First Pass

      Tighten the bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

    2. Final Pass

      Tighten the bolt an additional 120 degrees using the J 45059  .

  10. Remove the EN 46326  . See Special Tools .
  11. Install the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement (LY7) or Starter Motor Replacement (LH2) in Engine Electrical.
  12. Install the mechanical fan adapter, if equipped. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Bracket Replacement (LH2) or Engine Cooling Fan Bracket Replacement (LY7) in Engine Cooling.
  13. Install the accessory drive belts. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Generator  and to Drive Belt Replacement - Air Conditioning, Power Steering and Water Pump .
  14. Lower the vehicle.
