1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  3. Activate and release each of the driver information center (DIC) switches.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the following DIC switch parameters in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) Data List:
    • Information Down Switch
    • Information Up Switch
    • Information Reset Switch
    • Trip Reset Switch
    • English/Metric Switch
Does the scan tool display Active when each switch is pressed and Inactive when each switch is released?
Go to Diagnostic Aids Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the DIC/Dimmer Switch.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the DIC switch signal circuit and a good ground.
Does the test lamp illuminate
Go to Step 4  Go to Step 5 
4 Test the DIC switch signal circuit for a short to battery voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 6 
5 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the DIC switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 9  Go to Step 7 
6 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 8 
7 Replace the instrument panel (IP) dimmer switch. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Dimmer Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 9  -
8 Replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 9  -
9
  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC.
Does the DTC reset?
Go to Step 2  System OK
