Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Remove the left and right windshield pillar garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Standard) or Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (WC2, WC8) in Interior Trim.
  2. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) air outlet vents. Refer to Deflector Replacement - Instrument Panel Air in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  3. Remove the defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement (Without UV2)  or Defroster Grille Replacement (UV2) .

  5. Remove the four fasteners (2) from the inside of the vent outlet holes to the upper pad (3).
  6. Remove the three fasteners (1) from the inside of the defroster grille outlet holes to the upper pad (3).

  8. Lift the upper I/P pad (1) upward from the rear edge of the I/P cluster in order to disengage the retainers from the I/P cluster trim plate.
  9. Disconnect the electrical connectors, if necessary.
  10. Lift the pad on an angle and slide rearward in order to disengage the retainers at the front of the I/P.
  11. Remove the I/P upper trim pad (1) from the vehicle.
