Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
  3. Remove the I/P center storage compartment or the floor console. Refer to Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (Base and DHS)  or Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (DTS)  or Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS without UV8)  or Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS with UV8) .
  4. Remove the left I/P outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Left .
  5. Remove the right I/P outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Right .
  6. Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement .
  7. Remove the drivers knee bolster bracket. Refer to Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement - Left .
  8. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement (U1R, UM5, UM9) or Radio Replacement (U3Q, U3R, U3S) in Entertainment.
  9. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement .
  10. Remove the I/P cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement .
  11. Remove the I/P storage compartment. Refer to Storage Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) .
  12. Remove the right I/P accessory trim plate. Refer Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory Right .

  14. Remove the I/P screws (1) from each end of the I/P retainer.

  16. Remove the remaining bolts from the I/P retainer (1).
  17. Partially remove the I/P retainer (1) from the I/P carrier (2).

    Disconnect the inside air temperature sensor electrical connector.

  18. Guide the wiring through the I/P retainer openings as necessary.
  19. Remove the I/P retainer (1) from the vehicle.
  20. Remove the Inside air temperature sensor from the I/P retainer (1). Refer to Inside Air Temperature Sensor Assembly Replacement in HVAC-Automatic.
