Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Apply the park brake.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
  3. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 7 in SIR.
  4. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement (U45) or Radio Replacement (U1R, UL6, UM5, UM9) in Entertainment.
  5. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  6. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical.
  7. Remove the lamp socket from the ignition switch.
  8. Turn the ignition to the run position.

  10. Depress the release button (1) on the park lock cable and pull the cable, in order to disconnect the park lock cable from the ignition switch.

    The release button (1) is located on the bottom of the ignition switch at the 6 o'clock position.

  12. Look through the radio opening, and locate the ignition lock cylinder retaining tab (3).

    The ignition lock cylinder retaining tab (3) is located on the right lower side of the ignition switch assembly (2).

  13. Using a flat-bladed too, depress and hold the ignition lock cylinder retaining tab (3)
  14. Remove the ignition lock cylinder from the I/P.
  15. Remove the ignition switch fasteners (1, 4).

  17. Looking through the opening next to the steering column, remove the fastener (2) from the ignition switch (2)
  18. Remove the ignition switch assembly from the I/P.
